Life Hacks

Instead of blogging about upcycling this week, I looked at some life hacks that I found on this website . Life hacks are simple tips and tricks that solve everyday problems. Most of them worked, while some of them did not. I took a few videos of me trying some of them out.  Life Hack #1: Use the sticky part of Sticky Notes to clean dirt from your keyboard.  Life Hack #2: Use sunglasses as a phone stand. Life Hack #3: Use a hanger with clips as a cookbook holder. Life Hack #4: Place a water bottle on your phone's flashlight to turn it into a lantern. Life Hack #5: Batteries that bounce are dead, and batteries that don't bounce are not. These life hacks are super helpful, and you can find tons more by looking them up! - Shruti Citation:  @brianleeshl. "100 Life Hacks That Make Life Easier."  Lifehack . N.p., n.d. Web. 15 Dec. 2016.

Magnetic Mint Box Earbud Case

Image
I had an empty mint box, and I decided to make an earbud case out of it. My earbuds always get tangled and a magnetic mint box is the perfect place to keep them untangled! You can also put this box in your locker! Materials: - a mint box - glue - a magnet - paint (any color of your choice) - tape  - decorations 1. Peel all of the labels off of the mint box.  2. Glue the magnet onto the back of the mint box.  3.  Paint the top of the box. Give the mint box some color! 4. Use tape to decorate the box.  5. Add any additional decorations! 6. You are done! This is a wonderful way to stay organized. You can use the box to for anything! It doesn't even have to be earbuds!

Doily Bowl

Doilies are fabric (sometimes paper) mats that have a lace pattern. I used Mod Podge Stiffy, a fabric stiffener, to harden the doily into a bowl. The project was very quick, but the bowl is  pretty and can hold things such as paper clips, erasers, and other small items. Materials: - 1 fabric doily (doesn't matter what size) - one bowl (a little larger than the doily) - another bowl - Mod Podge Stiffy (if you can't buy that there are directions on how to make it at the bottom) - plastic wrap - a clean working space - paint (color of your choice) 1. Get all of your supplies ready. 2. Cover the upside-down bowl with plastic wrap. This ensures that nothing will happen to the bowl and the doily will be easier to take off. 3. In another bowl mix the Mod Podge Stiffy with some paint. 4. Dip the doily in the bowl full of Mod Podge Stiffy and paint. Make sure the Mod Podge really soaks into the doily. 5. Drape the doily onto the bowl with plastic wrap a...
