Fairy Jar Lantern

Image
Fairies are always adorable, so I used an empty jar to create a lantern with them! It is really easy, and  it looks great in the dark!  Materials: - an empty plastic jar - white and black paint - paint brushes - fairy silhouettes cutouts (you can print them off the Internet)  - sponge (optional) - masking tape or hot glue - a battery-operated candle 1. Make sure your jar is clean and doesn't have any labels. You don't want labels covering the fairies! 2. Use a sponge or paintbrush to dab white paint on the inside of the jar. It is better to use a sponge because paintbrush strokes don't create a fairytale effect in the jar.  3. Use either masking tape or glue to stick the fairy silhouettes inside of the jar. make sure that the silhouettes are facing towards the plastic.  This is what the jar looks like in the dark without grass.  4. Paint black grass on the inside of the jar. You don't have to, b...

CD Art

Image
I had a bunch of CDs that I have never used sitting in my basement. I chose to make some CD art with them. There are lots websites that show CD art with sharpies, but my I decided to use paint instead. You can use the CDs and hang them up on a wall. This project doesn't require too many supplies, and most of them can be found at home. Materials: - a CD that you won't be using in the future - black paint + paintbrush - a screwdriver 1. Flip your CD over to the shiny side. 2. Paint the CD black. Do two coats so that the CD becomes more opaque. 4. Use the screwdriver to scrape the design out of the paint. You can also add puffy paint to jazz it up a bit. This is a simple DIY project that anyone can do. It takes less than a day to make! - Shruti

Sonobe Origami Cube

Image
Origami isn't my greatest skill, but I decided to giver it a try today. I made a sonobe origami cube that can also be used as a lantern. If you use normal paper, it will look nice as a decoration. Baking paper will make it work as a lantern. I didn't have any colored paper, so I used white printer paper. Materials: - 24 pieces of square paper (normal or baking) (I used nine centimeters by nine centimeters) We will be making 24 of these, so I will show you how to make only one. 1. Fold the paper in half. 2. Fold the edges towards the middle, so that once unraveled, the paper is divided into four sections. 3. With the sections horizontal to you, fold the left corner just a little below the first crease. 4. Fold the folded corner up to the first crease. 5. Fold the first section up to over lap the second section. 6. Rotate the paper 180ยบ 7. Repeat Steps 3-5. 8. Take the right corner and fold it up. Then tuck it under the flap. ...
