Soap Bottle Vase with Newspaper Flowers

Image
For this post, I decided to upcycle two things instead of one. The more, the merrier, right? Anyways, both of these are super easy and add some great color to the non-stop snow. Materials for the soap bottle vase: - an empty soap bottle - paint (I used green, orange, pink, and black) - paint brushes Materials for the newspaper flowers: - newspaper - pencil - scissors - hot glue - a toothpick - pipe cleaner Soap Bottle Vase 1. Make sure you get rid of all of the labels on the bottle. 2. Paint it two shades of green (or whatever color you are using). 3. On the bottom of the bottle, paint some orange dots. 4. Using the pink, paint some petals around the orange dots. 5. I painted black stems for the flowers because my bottle was green, but you can use other colors if you wish. 6. I also wrote "Go Green" because it goes with my blog, but you can write other things such as "Peace".  It is wonderful to add some color to your ...

Valentines Day Sign

Image
Valentine's Day is near, so I decided to create a design.  You can put this design on cards, signs, and more! It doesn't take long, and it looks great!  Materials: - a piece of white paper (or white cardboard) - masking tape - white, pink, and red paint - red glitter glue (optional) 1. Tape a heart shape using the masking tape on the cardboard or paper.    2.  Splatter-paint over the masking tape. To make it easier to splatter the paint, I recommend using watery-paint. 3.  Peel of the the masking tape and use the glitter glue to write love .  Voila! You have a great design!  - Shruti

Flower Origami

Image
This week I made an origami flower. It was not too hard, and it didn't require a lot of materials. These are great to glue on top of presents to add some decoration. Materials:  - 1cm by 28cm strip of paper - glue 1.  Fold the top right corner of the paper down.  2. Roll the paper a few times then stop.  3. Fold the paper back and roll it a little.  4. Keep on doing this till you finish the paper. Every few times you roll, make sure you glue the paper together. This will gradually create a rose shape.   5. Glue the end of the paper to the flower and you are done! This is super simple and easy to do!  - Shruti
