Bottle Vase

Hello, everyone!
     As you can see, this is my first post. I had lots of Starbucks bottles laying around in my garage, and all they were doing was taking up space. Instead of just leaving them there, I decided to make vases/pencil holders out of the bottles. You can use other types of bottles as well, as long as they aren't plastic. All you need it hot glue and spray paint, and you're ready to go!







Step 1: Make sure your bottle's stickers are all peeled, and wash the bottle to make sure there isn't any gunk on the outside.

 Step 2: Use hot glue to draw any design you want on the bottle.

 Step 3: Spray paint the bottle. Make sure you do two coats to have an opaque look.



And voila! You just made a bottle vase/pencil holder! Wasn't that easy? This is a nice way of reusing unused bottles while decorating your house at the same time! The bottles add a splash color and look adorable on windowsills. Be on the lookout for more posts with new ideas for upcycling!

    It's really pretty! I'd love to try it out though I don't drink Starbucks so I would have to use other bottles. Doing this is a great way to reuse bottles.

    I agree with Samar. This looks like a really cool project but I never have any Starbucks bottles. This would also be cool to do on a different kind of bottle.

      I made a revision to the previous comment: Ditto on the no Starbucks bottles, I never go there. You could make a nice array of different types of bottles in different colours on a window or something. You could make an array of bottles in the colours of the rainbow. Definitely a good DIY instruction and a great project idea.

    I LOVE the theme of your blog. I think it is very creative, and seems like a lot of fun. I liked that you clearly explained each step with pictures. Cant wait to see whats next!

    Shruti. You are a brilliant personand I believe YOU can turn this whorld around. This is an awesome blog, and i'll be sure to make some of the totally rad things u show how to upcycle! One wish is that I hope you do not get sued by starbucks. That could be a problem. Watch out!

    I love the idea of using basic products and turning them into beautiful things. I love how you did the step by step pictures and not just words to explain this project to us. I can't wait for your next post!

Phone Stand/Speaker

Using a toilet paper roll, I created a simple yet cute phone stand and speaker. You can find all of the materials at home and the project does not take too long. Materials: - toilet paper roll - x-acto knife -  decorative tape - 4 tacks 1. Draw a line with two split ends on the toilet paper roll 2. Cut along the line. 3. Cover the toilet paper roll with decorative tape and fold in the slit. 4. Put the tacks on the bottom of the toilet paper roll. 5. Voila! Crayon Art

I used to love using crayons when I was little. I used to scribble everywhere! As I got older, I shifted towards colored pencils and soon my crayons were all stuck in some box that I never opened until now. Most of my crayons were broken in half (Don't you love that satisfying snap of a crayon? My 5-year-old self certainly did.), so I decided to snap all of them to make the crayons even. Materials: - 27 crayons (it doesn't matter if they're broken or not) - a blow dryer - lots of newspaper - a canvas (8 inches by 10 inches) - a hot glue gun 1. Peel the crayons. Yes, I know. It's a long and boring process, but it's worth it for the end product. An easy way to do this is by letting the crayons soak in a bowl of water for 5 minutes.
