Magnetic Blackboard Wall Decor

I have so many things stored in my attic from when I was in elementary school. I was sorting through all of my stuff from back then when I saw a magnetic blackboard that I used to draw/write on. Instead of just leaving it in the attic, I decided to give it a "modern look" and hang it up in my room. This project is easy to do and doesn't require many materials.

Materials:
- a magnetic board
- paint (metallic looks best)
- alphabet magnets (they don't cost a lot, maybe $1;00)


1. Set up a clean working area. I made a mistake and bought only one pack of magnets, but I later realized that you can't make a lot of words without a letter repeating itself. I would advise you to buy two packs of magnets.





2. Paint one coat of paint on the border of the board (if you have a border).





3. While you are waiting for the paint to dry on the board, you can begin painting the magnets. You don't have to paint all of the magnets; you can only paint the magnets that you will be using. Once you are done, let the magnets dry.





4. Repeat steps two and three and paint a second coat.





5.  You are done! You can put other magnets and pictures on the board and hang it up in your room!

    This is a great idea. I love the look of the gold border with gold magnets. I love how this is very inexpensive but looks so good. Maybe you could put a design on the border of the black board but this is really cool!

    Fun idea, also you could spray the board with a blackboard spray so you could write with chalk as well.

    Good idea! I support Charlie's idea as well, that would be very cool. You could also do it with a whiteboard. This is a good post.

Phone Stand/Speaker

Using a toilet paper roll, I created a simple yet cute phone stand and speaker. You can find all of the materials at home and the project does not take too long. Materials: - toilet paper roll - x-acto knife -  decorative tape - 4 tacks 1. Draw a line with two split ends on the toilet paper roll 2. Cut along the line. 3. Cover the toilet paper roll with decorative tape and fold in the slit. 4. Put the tacks on the bottom of the toilet paper roll. 5. Voila! Crayon Art

I used to love using crayons when I was little. I used to scribble everywhere! As I got older, I shifted towards colored pencils and soon my crayons were all stuck in some box that I never opened until now. Most of my crayons were broken in half (Don't you love that satisfying snap of a crayon? My 5-year-old self certainly did.), so I decided to snap all of them to make the crayons even. Materials: - 27 crayons (it doesn't matter if they're broken or not) - a blow dryer - lots of newspaper - a canvas (8 inches by 10 inches) - a hot glue gun 1. Peel the crayons. Yes, I know. It's a long and boring process, but it's worth it for the end product. An easy way to do this is by letting the crayons soak in a bowl of water for 5 minutes.
