Tie Dye Tank Top

Spring is finally here! And it is time to bring some color! I had an ordinary, white t-shirt, so I decided to tie dye it and cut the sleeves off to make a tank top.

Materials
- tie dye kit (tie dye, plastic gloves, rubber bands)
- scissors

1. Take the shirt and fold it in half. This ensures that the cuts are equal.

2. Cut the sleeves off. This is the result:

3. To begin the tie dye, pick a point where you want the beginning of the swirl to be. Pinch that point and twist the shirt clockwise. Keep on twisting until the whole shirt is twisted.

4. Tie 3 rubber bands around the shirt so that there are six equal sections on the shirt.

Before tie dying, make sure the area you are working in is clean and okay to stain. If not, make sure you have a trash bag to dye on and a smock and gloves.

5. Dye each section a different color. I used purple, green, and blue.

6. Flip the shirt over, and do the same thing.

7. Wrap the shirt in plastic wrap and let it sit for 6-8 hours. The longer you let it sit, the brighter the color.

8. Take off the plastic wrap, and rinse the shirt with your hands until the water runs somewhat clear.

9. Throw the shirt into a washing machine by itself without a lot of detergent. This will ensure that the color won't run onto other clothes.

10. Put the shirt into the dryer.

11. Voila! An awesome tank top!!
